• What suggestions do you think would prove useful to analyse a client’s needs?

- noting how the client presents
- informing the client of your role
- allowing time for the client to present the information fully
- asking the right questions in the right manner
- listening to the client’s story
- saying what you are interested in finding out
- observing the client’s behaviour during the interview.

• What other ideas could be added?

- Preparation Skills- finding more about the job.
- Create a plan or strategy that the client can clearly see will take care of their needs and objectives.
- Should be enthusiastic, ask questions, and take extensive notes. This will be helpful in your next step of creating an effective and efficient proposal.

Keeping up to date with the client in case of any delays or any changes to project
Just remember is not your work is that is client work and don't put more work then required.
Staying on the brief and don't miss out any required work.

What other ideas could be added?

Having a good schedule at the start will ensure project stays on track.

Hello Bkoss70 I am totally agree with you and also,
I think the main idea is to follow the requirements that the client gives us. Secondly,
we should tell the client that it is possible that some requirements may not be possible to do and,
of course, do it as simple as the client can understand.

What other ideas could be added
It is always a good idea to show the client some work that has been done,
to know if the client wants something similar.

Hi Bkoss70 and Nicolas,
I agree with you.
In addition, we could organize meetings if it is required and make sure that the emails
and documents related to the project are being delivered.

Of course, it is always a good idea to have some meetings with
the client and also show them what we have done and if they
want to make a change

I agree with you guys, keeping updated to the client's requirements are really important. To ensure we meet the requirements we should schedule regular meetings every month or fortnightly. This allows us to show the client our progress and prototypes created allowing us confirm if this is what they want and allows us to change anything the client doesn't like. This results in the best possible final product.

Based on my previous experience, anticipating and discussing any obstacles ahead of time will solve a lot of issues if they were to arise. This is extremely important if projects take longer than originally expected or directions change during your work. Communication is also very important, as it will help both you and the client understand exactly what the client needs from you.

What other ideas could be added?
As Nicolas has put it below, sharing examples of similar work or your own previous work can help clients define their needs easier. This also leads to quicker understanding which means starting the project faster. It's a bonus for clients if they don't have to explain much for you to understand and begin working quickly.

This is very true. From previous experience, keeping close contact with clients has lead to a huge improvements in clarity and end results. Sharing things like prototypes or examples often lets the client tailor exactly what they need in major steps of development, which makes the job easier for both you and your client.

Topic 1: Analyse Client needs Empty Re: Topic 1: Analyse Client needs

Evening/Morning everyone.

I agree with a lot of every-ones post, and I believe best way to analyse a clients needs is mainly two things: Talking to your client, and checking up with information.
There are multiple key factors that interest a client to come back again, and to please the client with your work. Weekly check ups are a good way to make sure
all your work is the way the client wants, and how to improve and change certain items of interest. But talking to your client is overall the best of ideas.
Asking them themes, ideas, scenes and so forth to help grasp of how they think, and how to match that. Listening to a client and maybe even going the extra mile
to add additions for the client who might like the addition.

A good way to keep on track like this, you would best to have a phone number, Email, and even a website. Having multiple ways to contact a client is best, including
seeing them in person to get a good grasp of what they want.

Regularly scheduling meetings every fortnight will help to greatly improve the chances of satisfaction from client due to the ability to make changes to the project regularly. Any changes the client may want can be easily accommodated with less issues.

Communication is the key with any client relationship. Not only is this important to understanding what the client wants, it is essential to keep the client updated, whether it relating to progress or potential problems that could arise. Weekly updates (depending on the duration of the association) can assist all parties to ensure all needs are addressed and accommodated. Getting to know the client is also helpful. Gaining an insight into a clients likes and dislikes, both personally and professionally, always benefits the situation. This is only suggested on a client-by-client basis as not everyone is happy to divulge aspects of their private lives.

When it comes to any client relationship having good communication should always be top priority. Being able to successfully communicate with the client is the first step in building a long term relationship. Not only does it help in understanding what the client wants but also helps increase levels of satisfaction. As you progress with your client's project it is also always important to keep them regularly updated, especially when any major changes might be made, this helps the client feel like they are being kept fully informed and that all requirements are being addressed as best as possible. Gaining as much extra information about the business strategy of the project as you can is also a good idea and improves work effectiveness and in anticipating any potential obstacles along the way.

I definitely agree with you that if possible it could be a good idea get to know the client on a more personal professional level. By doing that it would be a great insight into the client's wants and improve understanding and communication as well as satisfaction and would also help in preventing possible obstacles in the future
